Notes On The Physics Of Physics - 1544 Words

Overview During my time in physics, I have learned a variety of topics, equations, formulas, and ideas that further continue my intelligence and learning when it comes to my life. However, there has always been something in nature that has always gripped my attention more than anything else. Water. Water as a general concept is something that is truly a miracle for life. It allows all living creatures to survive through drinking, bathing, and an overall healthy and happy life for all. Because of this, I was able to derive the law from two different scientists regarding this topic. One of which was Evangelista Torricelli(Galileo’s assistant), who was able to derive Torricelli’s law v2 = 2gH, in where g represents the acceleration due to the†¦show more content†¦The total amount of water I chose to fill the bottle with is approximately 1700 mL since above that level of water the bottle shape begins to change. I chose to measure 100 mL differences for water volume differe nces in order to achieve a total range of numbers between 500 and 1700 mL. I also determined that at 1700 mL, the flow rate allowed for the water to drain nearly 100 mL over the 5 seconds recorded. If I used a value that was less than 100 mL, I would find that one trial would go into another trial. I chose use a period of 5 seconds for a few reasons. This period allows us to collect a vast range of data for the amount of drainage, between the values of 27 and 96 mL. If I used a longer duration, like for instance, 10 seconds, I would find that the amount of water drained would be roughly between the values of 50 and 200 mL, which would go into the other trials. The reason why I did not choose a value less than 5 seconds was because such a small value would greatly amplify the problem of my reaction time. Also, the values collected would go between 5 mL and 25 mL, which would be too small for this experiment to work. Finally, I chose to use 6 trials for each condition. So, when ebonite and fur are rubbed together, the comparatively loosely bound electrons from fur get transferred to ebonite. As a result, ebonite becomes negatively charged and fur becomes positively charged. It is very important to note that the electrification of the body (whether positive or negative) is due to transfer of electrons from one body to another. i.e. If the electrons are transferred from a body, then the deficiency of electrons makes the body positive. If the electronsRead MorePhysics for Future Presidents Notes-Final Exam1149 Words   |  5 PagesEnergy: the ability to do work. Work= force x displacement. Literature Review Trade gravity model has its roots from physics where the law of gravity states that the force of gravity between two objects is directly proportional to the product of the masses of the two objects and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. In symbols: Force of Gravity=G((M_1 M_2)/(D_12^2 )) (2.1) In the early version of the gravity trade model, the gravity equation can be represented in the following general equationRead MoreBlowing Bottle Tops: Making Music with Glass Bottles716 Words   |  3 Pagessound, kind of like a music note? Well, this paper will explain how this works. The paper will be talking about sound, sound waves, standing waves, musical note names and frequencies, resonance, and closed-end air columns. Closed-end air columns will be a main focus in the paper, studying the physics behind it. Glass bottles are an example of a closed-end air column. Therefore, the more water inside the bottle, the lower the note, and less water would be a higher note. Closed-end air can be manyRead MorePhysics : Physics And Calculus Applications1711 Words   |  7 Pages MATH EXPLORATION PHYSICS AND CALCULUS APPLICATIONS MS. BUICA – MCV4U7-03 JANUARY 8, 2016 BY: RAMEEL KHAN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ INTRODUCTION The subject of physics applies calculus to many of its principles in order to explain various concepts and objects. In my HL math class, I have used calculus, such as differentiation and optimization, and applied it to kinematics (displacement, velocityRead More Physics of Music Essay851 Words   |  4 Pagesis a great deal of science that goes behind the production of beautiful musical sounds. In order to understand how music is possible, one must have an understanding of physics. Physics allows us to create musical instruments with different tone qualities and the ability to be played in a certain way to produce a specific pitch or note. Music is sound, and sound is vibrations or waves that are at the right frequency to be perceived by the human ear. Audible vibrations are waves with a frequency betweenRead MorePersonal Statement Of Teaching Philosophy979 Words   |  4 Pagesnot only in learning the course topic but also in learning how to work collaboratively and in teams. Physics is the science of nature, so the physics student will feel the concepts of physics they study; this will transfer physics study from a dry to a fun process. I think a good mentor explains physics in the most simple, straightforward way. For instance, while math is essential in studying physics, it should not be used in a complex way. The mentor should have a clear teaching plan depending onRead MoreSir Isaac Newton : The Father Of Modern Physics1185 Words   |  5 Pagesa smoother pebble or prettier shell than ordinary, while the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me(bio.com)†Today, one of the most highly regarded scientists is still Sir Isaac Newton. He should be remembered as the father of modern physics. Sir Isaac Newton was born on Jan 4, 1643 or according to December 25,1642 in Woolsthorpe, England. He never knew his father because he died before he was born and his mother remarried when he was three (bio.com). However, despite the simplicity of its lines and keys (88 keys), 2-3 pedals on the modern piano, and either upright (vertical) or grand style (horizontal), the physics of the piano are both interesting and complex. The modern piano is a descendent of the harpsichord, which used a plucking technique much like that of plucking the strings of a harp or lute. Bartolomeo Crisotofori, an Italian craftsman, substituted
